What can i do about body shop?

ok so i wrecked my 2008 Acura TSX about 6 weeks ago, i got an estimate from the insurance company about how much the damage totaled up to on my car, they decided it wasnt totaled, but had about 8500.00 worth of damage on it. I called the body shop the other day and they told me they were still tearing my car down to see if any more damage was done that they couldnt see in the first inspection of it. Anyway, the point is, i drove by the body shop the other day and my car was STILL sitting in the parking lot of the body shop untouched, called the manager from my cell phone from across the street and he ured me it was being fixed...my next question to him was, "why the HE** is my car still sitting in the parking lot then?" . he said "uh well we have 2 cars in the bays right now, it will be another 2 weeks and we will start on yours. Anyway. My question is how much time should i expect for them to fix 8500 dollars worth the damage on my TSX and should i contact my insurance company and let them handle it or should i just have it towed somewhere else? tho if i have to see that manager im liable to go to jail.
