What is the best mode of transportation around the Orlando Convention Center?

I am staying at the Hilton Orlando on Destination Parkway and will be attending a 3 day event at the Orange County Convention Center. I thought that taking a cab to/from MCO airport would be sufficient, but wasn't sure if there was an easy way to get around to area restaurants. I just don't want to end up paying cab fees upwards of a $100 when I could have just rented a car... Any suggestions would be very helpful!
