I have just gotten out of the hospital, I was shot in the shoulder by a hasty cop can I claim compensation?

Basically its was my mates 18th birthday and we were gonna have a surprise b-day party for him. He is a huge MW2 fan so we arranged to get a cake in the shape of an AK 47. I went to collect it from the bakery and they put it in saran wrap. I was walking down the street with this cake and in the distance this patrol car stops two cops get out and one cop shot me before saying anything to me. I drop the cake get taken to hospital, undergo surgery and now have to go to court and am likely to have to do some community service according to my lawyer. Surely I can claim for something, the doctors are saying I might not get full mobility of my left arm again.
